Christmas on the Square

Christmas on the Square is one of the year's most exciting community events and certainly our busiest three hours. The image above does not do justice to the picturesque appearance of the decorated OSS at night with carolers (left) singing from the balcony. Area groups used the resonating gallery for about 90 minutes of yuletide music.

Visitors to the square began arriving before the 6:00 p.m. starting time. A line formed on the porch at the McDonald Cabin door and continued unbroken until the 9:00 p.m. shutdown. The bottom hinge on the century old screen door gave way and we had to remove the door until repair is made.

Free carriage rides around the square were provided by the Old Stagecoach Stop Foundation. The Foundation began this traditional activity some years ago. It proved so popular and the wait so long that a second horse and carriage were added, sponsored by The Bank of Crocker.
